You use your keyboard every day, or at least several times a week, so it is bound to need a good cleaning at one point. It especially needs to be cleaned if you are using a shared computer. The following tips can help you sanitize your computer keyboard.
Materials For Sanitizing Your Keyboard
To sanitize your keyboard, you are going to need a pack of disinfectant wipes. A linen-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol can be used as an alternative. Cotton swabs can also be used to clean the keys with isopropyl alcohol.
Once you gather your materials, be sure to turn off your computer before cleaning your keyboard.
Sanitizing Your Keyboard With Disinfectant Wipes
If you are using disinfectant wipes, you are going to wipe down the top and sides of each key. You also need to wipe the surface and bottom of the keyboard to clean the entire piece. To keep your keyboard clean, be sure to get a new disinfectant wipe as needed.
Sanitizing Your Keyboard With Isopropyl Alcohol
For this method, you are going to dip your linen-free cloth in the isopropyl alcohol. Use the cloth to wipe down the keyboard, just as you would with the disinfectant wipes. You can dip it in the isopropyl alcohol again, or get a new cloth, as needed to keep it clean.
Regardless of which method you choose, you can use the cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol to clean in between the keys. You do not need to soak the cloth or cotton swabs in the alcohol. All you need is enough to remove the dust and dirt while sanitizing the area.
If you want to keep your workstation clean, it is best to sanitize your computer keyboard at least once a week. It only takes a few minutes to clean your keyboard.
